Take a photo of the model plate. Include the serial number, voltage, refrigerant, and any code suffix. Do not rely on what the last email said. One wrong digit in the model code can turn a $900 part into $900 of shelf junk.

2. The crankcase heater is not optional

"Heater" in a refrigeration compressor context almost always means the crankcase heater. It sits in the oil sump and keeps refrigerant from migrating into the oil when the compressor is off. In cold climates, a missing or undersized heater is one of the fastest ways to shorten a compressor's life. In warm climates, it's still part of the refrigeration cycle, not an accessory.

The tricky part: heaters come in different voltages, wattages, and connection styles. A 220V heater looks a lot like a 380V heater until you energize it. (Surprise, surprise.) If a supplier quotes a "universal heater," ask for the Bitzer part number and compare it to the model plate before you pay.

3. Oil, gaskets, and filters count as spare parts
